Scott Murphy is an artist from Buzzards Bay, MA, on Cape Cod.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I have been painting with oils for over 30 years, but now, as I near retirement, my pent-up creativity needs to be expressed by my art. That's why I recently began painting commissioned work for friends, family and the general public.

I have an eye for expressing real life through my portraiture, both pets and humans, but also in the many landscapes I have painted over the years. I also enjoy using my art to benefit causes I believe in, and over the past several years I have created works that I have donated to auctions for various charities. For example, I am currently collaborating with eight other artists to work on a piece for the Words for Ukraine organization, which will benefit the Ukrainian people.

Prior to pursuing painting full time, I spent 45 years as an engineer, building everything possible in building construction. I am also the adoptive parent of twins from Romania  (that story started in 2001). They are both grown adults now and have been my inspiration for all the years past and many more in the future to come. The main inspiration in my life has been my best friend, Terry, whom I have been married to for the past 45 years. 

She and the kids have plenty of my art, and this is why I want to share the rest of my art with you.
